What is the Visitor Exchange Program?

The Exchange Visitor Program is carried out pursuant to the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961, as amended. Its purpose is to foster mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries through educational and cultural exchanges. All Exchange Visitors are expected to return to their home country upon completion of their program in order to share their exchange experiences with people of that country. 91社区福利 is designated by the Department of State to host Exchange Visitors in the following categories:

  • Student: This category provides foreign students the opportunity to study at a degree-granting post-secondary accredited educational institution. Students may participate in degree and non-degree programs.
  • Short-Term Scholar: A short-term scholar is a professor, research scholar, or person with similar education or accomplishments coming to the United States to lecture, observe, consult, train, or demonstrate special skills at research institutions, museums, libraries, post-secondary accredited education institutions, or similar types of institutions on a short-term visit.
  • Professor: As participants in these program categories, foreign professors and research scholars, engage in research, teaching, observing, and lecturing with their American colleagues. in graduate medical education or training and are not included in this category.
